Two of Australia’s most prominent Drupal strategy, design and development companies, Code Drop and PreviousNext, have merged to form a single company with national reach. The merger will see both companies operate under the PreviousNext brand name from August 1, with the Code Drop team remaining in their existing Perth offices and working across national projects.
Code Drop was founded in 2012 by prominent Drupal Developers, Ben Dougherty and Sam Becker, following a stint working together at a local Perth digital agency and studying Computer Science at Curtin University. Ben & Sam proceeded to grow a highly skilled team building complex Drupal websites and e-commerce platforms.
Kim Pepper, Technical Director and co-founder of PreviousNext, kept tabs on Code Drop’s prolific code contributions to Drupal throughout this period, including Ben attaining a Top 50 spot in the Drupal 8 core contributor list, maintainer of the Drupal 8 Migrate API and membership of the Drupal Security Team. This close alignment with PreviousNext’s commitment to Drupal contribution led to collaboration opportunities with the Code Drop team on client projects.
“Ultimately, it made perfect sense for us to join forces and further strengthen Australia’s most experienced Drupal team”, said Pepper. “With the upcoming release of Drupal 8, the merger means that our entire team is ready to start building and migrating Drupal 8 sites from day one.”
Dougherty’s perspective on the merger is equally upbeat, saying “Taking this step means the Code Drop team is leapfrogging into building projects of international significance, whilst providing our local clients with a level of expertise they’d otherwise need to go interstate for”.
