How do Drupal Migrations Work?
We usually do Drupal migrations when building a new Drupal site and existing data needs to be migrated. Regardless of your current platform we will need to scope out your existing data source. Throughout the scoping, we'll put together a plan of data mappings into the new system.
Once the planning is complete we'll migrate your data early in the development cycle and then continuously migrate any new content as required before launch. This allows you to continue using and managing your old site during development.
What can be Migrated?
Any structured data format can be parsed and imported into Drupal. If you have unstructured data or are just unsure, get in touch, we may still be able to help you.
The Drupal Migration API is a framework which allows developers to write migrations easily. The Migration API makes things like partial imports and field mappings much easier for developers, allowing them to focus on the task at hand.

Upgrading from Drupal 6 and Drupal 7
With the upcoming release of Drupal 8, one of the key strengths of the Migrate API is being able to migrate data between versions of Drupal. This allows you to migrate a Drupal 6 or 7 website to Drupal 8, the upcoming version. Using the Migrate API to upgrade older versions of Drupal is now the official recommended way of upgrading to Drupal 8.
We actively work with migrate and have the specialist skills required to upgrade your Drupal 6 or Drupal 7 websites. Get in touch for more information.
